The Houston Community College System (HCC) is preparing to build a new, larger campus just five miles away from Jordan Ranch.
Accelerated growth in Fort Bend Country, especially in Katy and Fulshear, prompted HCC to purchase 24 acres in Katy near Interstate 10 and the Grand Parkway for a new, larger campus close to the site of the new University of Houston - Katy campus.
Total development cost for the site will be about $62 million. The new college will replace the current HCC Katy-Foxlake campus, which is not large enough to handle the influx of new students expected. There are plans to sell the Foxlake campus early this year in anticipation of the completion of the new facility.
In addition to being larger, the location off Colonial Parkway near the new UH Katy campus should create a smoother transition for students looking to transfer.
