Relocating to Fort Bend
Located just west of Houston, Fort Bend County has been consistently ranked among the top counties in the nation. The U.S. Census Bureau named it the most ethnically diverse county in the Houston area in 2014 and the fastest-growing large county in America in 2015. It is home to some of the best master-planned communities in Texas, with many also landing in the top 20 on national lists.
Although the population has grown 22 percent since 2010, crime is at a historical low. In addition, the county ranks No. 7 in the nation and No. 3 in Texas for buying power, making Fort Bend an affordable place to live, according to a 2016 study by New York financial technology company, SmartAsset. The standard of living is high due to high-wage jobs, a favorable system of maintaining infrastructure and diversity of industry. The report also states that Fort Bend County offers the lowest closing costs in the Houston area.
Fort Bend offers residents a superior lifestyle with exceptional schools — non-profit Children at Risk ranked several Fort Bend elementary, middle and high schools as some of the best in the state — a wealth of family-friendly activities, numerous open spaces and parks, and a plethora of outdoor recreational opportunities. Outstanding shopping, entertainment and dining — locally and in the greater Houston area — add to the benefits of having a home here.
