Target Opens Texas Heritage Marketplace with More Businesses Coming Soon in Katy, TX

Life at Jordan Ranch just got a whole lot more convenient—national retailer Target opened its Katy Heritage store to the public Oct. 11, a few miles north along Texas Heritage Parkway at I-10. The new 148,000 square-foot oasis of everyday essentials and affordably-priced trendy items anchors the expansive Texas Heritage Marketplace, which has roughly 40 more businesses opening through early 2027.

A Place for Affordable, Everyday Essentials and More

Paired with an in-store Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy, and Target Optical, the new Target store at 29355 Katy Freeway embodies Target’s commitment to helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. It’s now open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.

The new Target is being called a food-focused store, the largest of which in the Greater Houston area, with more options for fresh produce, meat, dairy products, frozen foods, and other groceries. This is in addition to Target’s usual stock of trendy clothing, electronics, home furnishings, beauty products, and household essentials.

Jordan Ranch residents can shop in person or—for added convenience—take advantage of drive-up, order pickup, same-day delivery, and next-day delivery options. EV charging stations are also available on-site.

Texas Heritage Marketplace Ramps Up

Target’s opening followed that of Lowe’s, the national home improvement retailer, and Whataburger—the fast-food chain—which opened in September in the massive Texas Heritage Marketplace.

Texas Heritage Marketplace is a 165-acre mixed-use center under development by NewQuest Properties at the southeast corner of I-10 and Texas Heritage Parkway.

At Target’s grand opening, Austin Alvis, president and chief development officer of NewQuest, said 40 more tenants are slated to open in the next six months at the marketplace—everything from Sam’s Club to Olive Garden. When it’s full, the marketplace will include 800,000 square feet of retail and dining options.

Businesses opening soon in the marketplace include:

  • Chase Bank, opening this fall
  • Sam’s Club, slated to open in March
  • Academy Sports + Outdoors, opening in early 2027
  • Burlington, opening in early 2027
  • Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods, opening in early 2027
  • Ulta Beauty, opening in early 2027

Heritage Grove, a part of the Texas Heritage Marketplace, is also bringing a 5-acre green space surrounded by approximately 35,000 square feet of restaurants and retail, including:

  • Escalante’s
  • Tony C’s New York Style Pizza & Beer Garden
  • Aji Izakaya

Other tenants at Texas Heritage Marketplace have signed leases, but an opening date is unknown:

  • EoS Fitness
  • Bath & Body Works
  • PNC Bank
  • America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses
  • Methodist
  • James Avery Artisan Jewelry
  • Blast Off Carwash
  • Mattress Firm

  • Texas Roadhouse
  • Cheddar’s

According to the site plan from NewQuest, leases with P. Terry’s, Potbelly, Chick-fil-A, and Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa are in negotiations as of mid-October.

The site plan for the expansive mixed-use destination also sets aside space for a three-story medical complex, multifamily units, and a Katy fire and police station.
